The first visit in Aesthetic Medicine
The method utilised during the first visit in the hospital lasts more than an hour.
First of all, as part of the diagnostic approach, comes the anamnestic examination, being a traditional objective examination and targeted towards the issue at hand. Then there is a series of morphological and functional evaluations:
- Psychological evaluation:a series of tests, added to the interview to define an overall psychological profile of the patient, in order to highlight the emotional response procured by the exam in question, also in regards to the social-environmental effects
- Morphological evaluation: an understanding of the patient’s weight history, of the subjective ideal weight, of the lean mass, of the total quantity of water, through the methodologies of body composition analysis such as the plicometry and impedanceometry, allowing us to establish any target weights or localised treatments. The same prescription of the dietary plans for the metabolic and weight goal of the subject starts from the morpho-anthropo-plicometric evaluation;
- Anthropometric evaluation
- Postural evaluation:to highlight possible alterations of the position of the body in relation to the support surfaces in a static and dynamic situation, through direct observation and with the aid of a Podoscope.
- Angiological evaluation of the lower limbs: with a medical semiotics and the aid of an acoustic doppler;
- Ultrasound assessment of the hypodermis: to distinguish localised adiposity by an Edematofibrosclerotic Panniculitis in its evolutionary stages;
- Skin assessment: clinical examination and measurement of basic physiological parameters with the aid of a corneometer, a sebometer, a pH meter and a thermometer;
- Blood tests: clinical analyses aimed at clinical indications;
This allows us to frame clinical imperfections that occurs in the context of an overall analysis, to propose a general preventive programme and a corrective programme relative to the request, taking advantage of methodologies of aesthetic medicine. Rather, these are referred to the medical or surgical specialties concerning the specialised diagnostic questions and the relative corrections.
During the consultation, therefore, the aesthetic doctor will take care of:
- Diagnostic approach with a traditional case history and targeted towards the issue at hand, a traditional and targeted objective examination and morphological and functional evaluations
- Request for specialist advice (where the assessments have highlighted a condition outside a physiological or paraphysiological status).
Diagnostic classification of the clinical appearance of the complaint. - Formulation of an overall evaluation.
- Formulation of the general preventive and targeted hygienic-behavioural programme (food hygiene, physical, psychological, cosmetological and anything else related to lifestyle).
- Formulation of a maintenance programme and corrective treatment according to the needs.
- Main clinical indications and methods of treatment of the out-patient clinic:
The hygienic-preventive and possibly corrective approach of general ageing is proposed to all patients examined.
