General Information
Location
Rome
Rome is the largest and most populous city in Italy and one of the largest European capitals. It is characterised by the highest concentration of historical and architectural heritage in the World. Its historical center is bounded by the perimeter of the Aurelian walls, testimonials of nearly three millennia, and is the expression of the historical, artistic and cultural heritage of the Western European World. In 1980, together with the Vatican, it was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Rome, the Heart of Christianity, is the only city in the world to accommodate a foreign State inside it, the enclave of the Vatican city. This is why it is often defined as the Capital of two States. Over 16% of the world's cultural heritage is found in Rome (70% of the Italian heritage).
